SUMMARY:Spaceland Wingsuit Performance Competition
DESCRIPTION:So you think you’re faster than the guy in the cover photo? During a flare\, can you get higher than Willie Nelson (or Luke Rogers)? If so\, here’s your chance to prove it! \nWith the support of Wingsuit World\, Skydive Spaceland will be hosting a wingsuit performance competition for all levels of competitors. The competition will compose of three tasks: time\, distance and speed. Total results for all 3 tasks will be added together for each competitor to get the final score for the competition. Each competitor can upload as many tracks as\nthey choose to increase their scores as the event moves along. \nIn order to compete\, you will need a FlySight (GPS device). This is how the data of the performance jumps will be obtained. When you have a track that you feel is worth uploading\, the FlySight track can be uploaded to Wingsuit World. \nDepending on the number of participants\, there will be up to four performance classes for the competition: rookie\, intermediate\, advanced and open. You will be placed in the appropriate performance class based off of the type of wingsuit you plan to use. Performance classes for most wingsuits can be found here – https://wingsuit.world/classification/. You will only be allowed to compete in one performance class\, so be sure to use the wingsuit you are the most comfortable with. You may also change wingsuits between jumps\, as long as they fall under the same class chosen during registration. For example\, if you start out with an ATC during the competition\, it is alright if you switch to a Freak\, as they are both in the same performance class. But if you were to start out with a Funk (intermediate class) in the competition\, you cannot later switch to an ATC (advanced class)\, as they are in different performance classes. \nThere will also be a max flare contest (most altitude gained) for each performance class. By the way\, the current record for max flare is held by our Aussie friend\, Luke Rogers at 124m/408ft! \nRules for the event can be found here – https://wingsuit.world/rules/. In addition to those rules\, the competition jumps must be performed at a Spaceland DZ in Texas (Houston\, Dallas or San Marcos). You may practice for the competition at any non-Spaceland DZ\, but you will not be allowed to submit a performance track that was performed there. \nThere is no registration fee for this event\, but you must register for the event to compete. Here is a link to the registration – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/L2L3QFS. Once you have registered\, you will receive an email from Wingsuit World which will then allow you to login and upload tracks to the event webpage. \nThe event will begin at 12am on January 24\, 2020 and will end at 11:59pm on March 29\, 2020. The event is several weeks long\, in order to give everyone a chance to make their performance jumps. All uploaded tracks must fall within this timeframe. Any tracks that are timestamped before or after these dates will not be accepted. \nPrizes will be awarded to the top performers of each class for the performance competition and also for the max flare of each class. Sponsors for the prizes include Squirrel\, LB Altimeters\, Skydive Spaceland\, Aerodyne\, Rigsleeve and Cookie! \nFor any questions of this event\, please send an email to ryaneleeper@gmail.com. \n
